No Excuses

There is no room for excuses in 2020. This is the year we must do something with our lives. This is the year we must achieve greatness inspite of challenge. The year we must make obstacles the way. The year we must learn from young genius Bhekamandaba Makhonza. A young man from KwaZulu Natal. Who inspite all the challenges, an ailing mother and a very poor household, he imerged third in Physical Science nationwide.

In country rife with drug abuse, crime and gang violence, he had every reason to blame his circumstance and drop out of school or engage himself in unbecoming and rebellious behaviour. Yet this young man focused on his studies and snatched 8 distinctions in the national matric exams.

Allan's Eulogy

Brother Michael was a mess in the beginning. It must have dawned on him eventually that he was running the wrong script. He decided to change. To really include me in his plans. To really care what I said and felt. To just stand there and listen to me. I appreciated his listening skills; which I will forever miss. Despite being my big brother he admitted where wrong and rectified. He was my best friend. It was easy deciding to make him my best man. He always had an eye when things were going wrong. What made him amazing was how he handled sensitive issues without making me feel alienated and extremely wrong. We worked together at the family estates. He did most of the management, but he always said the business belonged to the family as a whole. I will forever appreciate his inclusion of all of us.

My children had trouble believing he was not their father. He took them fishing at the farm. He hosted dinners almost weekly and our families were ever in touch. He was my brother and I loved him.

Introduction

In Steven Covey's self help literature masterpiece called "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People", he instructs his readers to learn one important habit: starting or beginning

with the end in mind. Whatsoever is born must cease to exist. For all who were born the likelihood of death is certain. There is no escaping it.

The reason for looking at life from a dead man's point of view is to limit or eradicate regret. For at the grave there is no work nor labor. All that must be done, must be done while the human being lives. Death is the end of a life on Earth. For those who believe in the existence of an afterlife, it is a beginning of a process of waiting. But in most faiths what was done while the human being lived defines which eternity awaits.

Although the examples made on this blog are personal, one must remember that human desires are similar. All men seek happiness,success,good healthy and prosperity in all dimensions of life.
The eulogies are about me. They are what I wish will be delivered at my funeral. This is in the case that I die before those assigned these eulogies. It is my hope that I manage to achieve all my goals before the fateful day of my death.
